Our ambassador
"Welcome to the UkinSudan website, the homepage of the British Embassy in Khartoum. This website provides information about the UK's role in Sudan and the work that we do here. It also includes details about how to apply for visas, as well as plenty of material about the UK itself.
I arrived in Khartoum as Ambassador in May 2007. My role is to represent the United Kingdom in Sudan, presenting and explaining British policy to the Government of Sudan. I also support the formation of British policy back in London with advice and analysis about Sudan.
Since my arrival here, I have been struck by the hospitality and warmth of the Sudanese people. They deserve peace, prosperity and democracy. The UK is proud to be working in partnership with the Sudanese people towards these goals. We were closely involved in the development of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, and as guarantors of the agreement, we take a close interest in its implementation. We are also gravely concerned by the situation in Darfur and are committed to supporting efforts to find a peaceful solution there.
I hope you find this website useful and informative. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any comments or suggestions.
Dr Rosalind Marsden, CMG
Her Majesty's Ambassador to Sudan
